Short Course Map
Short Course: About 6ish miles and 1500’ of elevation gain (garmin/gpx to be posted soon). Start/Finish at Alta Town Park. Start by running the dirt road towards the parking lot where you parked, left up and past the skier services building and left turn onto the Lower Albion Basin Trail. This trail is about 2-3 people wide providing opportunities to pass. If you’re gonna make a move, make it here. You’ll then turn right and up Snake Pit. The climb to the wildflowers begins. Make sure to peak over the ledge to see the cool waterfall. A ways up you’ll merge into the Home Run Trail (you’re no where near the finish aka “Home”). At Alf’s restaurant you’ll you’ll follow the construction detour up and into the Cecret Lake Trailhead parking lot. You’ll exit the parking lot, swoop down and the swoop left onto single track (#9 on map). You are on your way up to Devil’s Castle. Notice the nice and sizable boulders on the side of this trail. After some decent elevation gain you’ll be granted privileged entrance to Devil’s Castle. Take in the views of the fortress as you prance along beneath it. After a short jaunt you spit yourself out onto the road/cat track. Turn left and bomb down the gravel road. It’s a steep one! Be careful not to roll an ankle or fall and get raspberried. Pass thru the gate at the bottom and turn right on the gravel road, cross the bridge and pass the bathrooms on your right. 2 minutes down the road hang a right onto and up on the single track that connects half way up Catherine’s Pass Trail. Turn left onto Catherine’s Pass Trail. It’s all downhill from here Baby! Take in the views. After crossing the dirt road (look both ways as there are autos on this road) you’ll hit the switchbacks that should be laden with Wildflowers. At the bottom of the switchback turn right onto and down the Albion Basin Trail. Another steep one. A ways down turn left on and over to Snake Pit. You’ll now retrace your steps back to the start. Be courteous and Safe in this section as the single track is narrow with some steep ledges. At the bottom hang a left back onto the Lower Albion Basin Trail and meander….. I mean sprint back to Finish at the Town Park. All Done! Time to BBQ and reflect on tonight’s effort, the beautiful environment, and all things in your life that you are Thankful For!
